A hideaway bar for adults: BAR MAILESTONE

Bar Milestone
Bar Milestone

A bar quietly standing along Inokashira Street. It's hard to find, and some people may not even notice it because it's set back. I mustered up my courage and went in alone. (As a woman, I was nervous the first time I went in.) Jazz was playing quietly in the bar, and the atmosphere was calm. There were a few people who seemed to be regulars sitting at the counter. As soon as I sat down, the bartender came over and spoke to me, giving me a towel. First, I ordered a gin and tonic. I was still nervous at this point, but it was definitely a comfortable bar. Everything was polished and clean. Maybe it was because of the potted plants, but I felt a good "energy". Then, I took a sip of the gin and tonic that was brought to me and thought, "It's delicious!" I order gin and tonics at various bars, but I think this is quite high level. While I was tasting it, I eavesdropped on the conversation between the regulars and the bartender... The regulars were also refined and nice people. My tension was starting to ease, so for my second drink, I ordered a Yoichi 12-year-old with water. The bartender taught me a lot about alcohol. Before I knew it, the customer next to me had joined in, and it was fun to hear all kinds of stories about alcohol. By the end of my second drink, I was feeling great, and for my third drink, I consulted with the bartender and ordered a 1994 Bottlers (17 years old) on the rocks. It was a smoky malt, and it was great! I really liked it. The customers were saying that the cocktails here were also of a very high level. They especially recommended the fruity ones. The bartender is particular about the ingredients, and apparently he purchases them directly from the source and carefully prepares them. I felt like I wanted to try it, but I was starting to feel a little tipsy, so I decided to stop here for today. Next time, I'd like to join the regulars at the end of the table and give it a try.
