"Reisan" is a recommended restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Kyoto cuisine.
The moment you enter the small restaurant, you feel a good vibe. Perhaps it's because it's adjacent to Hachiman Shrine, or perhaps it's because of the restaurant's name, but it has a very refreshing feel. They only offer an evening omakase course, which is a very high-quality kaiseki meal. The food, made by a young chef who trained in Kyoto, is very delicate and careful, and above all, you can feel his brilliant sense in the cooking methods and combinations that make the most of the ingredients. Another fun thing to do is have a little refill of the rice cooked in the clay pot (and you get a nice bonus when you do). There are many delicious Japanese restaurants in this area, but in the kaiseki category, this is the best for me.
